We need your help (regarding Mobile Labs)
We all know that Mobile Lab carts were messy, hard to count the number of Macbooks in the cart,
don't know which Macbook in the cart is working and labels were bad design for color blind people (just joking), etc.

So we have done the following improvement arrangements for our 4 Mobile Lab carts:
a.) New design labels for distinguishing Macbook Number and Cart Letter.
b.) Numbered slots for corresponding Macbooks.
c.) Notes to Mobile Cart Users posted on the top of the carts (also posted at http://connect.tis.edu.mo/display/faculty/Mobile+Lab+Bookings+at+a+Glance ).

Now, we need your help!
a.) Please ask your students to return the Macbooks according to the number label on each slot in the cart?
b.) Please do not mix Macbooks, for example, do not put Cart C Macbook to Cart A.
c.) (For Mobile Cart B only) Please check that the big green power button (on the wall of Cart B) is switched on after you have returned the cart to the Secondary Library.

In these ways, you may shorten our time to do the regular cart checking, so that we may do better to improve our services.

New Software Upgrade On Our Mac at TIS
Some of you may have already noticed that the iWork 09 is found on your computer. Yes, the IT guys have installed the latest version of iWork 09 to all the computers in the school recently. So, the teachers will never again encounter compatibility issue to open their student's Page or Keynote files. Alternatively, It has improved the way we work. We can now attach the Number, Page and Keynote files into our email without achriving them. That is a good news for all of us finally.

By the way. You may also ask. Where is the latest version of iLife. Yes, the iLife 09 could be found at 3 places in the school at the moment. Secondary lab, Seondary library and Mobile Cart C & Cart D (Cart D will be available by tomorrow). If you want to have an experence of the iLife 09, please feel free. For our future planning, iLife 09 will be installed to all the computers in the nearly future.

Work hard play hard! Please shout at me if you have a problem.

P.S. The teachers can no more telling their kids to save their homework files to an older version to bring to school now.

Software Update for ClassConnect, Faulty Access, Education Edge and TIS Wiki
ClassConnect has been upgraded to the latest version 7.82.104.3.


Faculty Access has been upgraded to the lastest version 7.82.104.4.


The Education Edge has been upgraded to the latest version: 7.82.104.0004.


TIS Wiki (Atlassian Confluence) has been upgraded to the latest version 3.1.1.


Should you find any errors/bugs/problems after the upgrade, please don't hesitate to report to us.

CAMPUS - Teacher Server is having a connection issue
Dear All,

Our teacher server (campus) is having a connection issue. We are going to restart it in order to resolve the side effect on the teacher computers.

Due to malfunction of AFP Service, the server need to be restarted at 5 pm, 25 Jan 2010.

Wiki Server - All functions resume normal
Hi All

As restored backup in last week was partially working, those technical issues could not be fixed in short term. We have done another restore using the backup up to 1st Jan 2010. All functions including "Posting NEWS", "showing Recently updated posts" and "Searches" works properly. So we decided to start it from there. That means any changes you make on and after 1st Jan 2010 have to be re-done.

IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT MOBILE LABS
You may not know that one Macbook weights more than 2.2kg (~ 4.5lbs).

We have totally 17 broken Macbooks, and separated into two carton boxes, i.e. 20 kg per box.

We have to move them all the way from the service center to the parking spot on the street,
and the parking spot of TIS to each mobile lab carts. They are actually very heavy, but it is not the key point.

The important point is to replace with a healthy keyboard by Apple, it costs the school a lot of money.

Let me announce that all broken Macbooks are fixed with expensive healthy keyboards.

Please note that if you do not have time to supervise your students, DO NOT sign out a mobile lab.

The macbooks ARE NOT toys for your students. They are educational tools!
